oh water i love thee!!

i love this picture so much i had to post it again...
and i think i love it so much because I LOVE WATER!!!bren pointed it out to me, that i especially like worship songs that talk about water or mention water... my favorite rebecca st. james song goes like this...

like the river that runs to the sea
the oceans speak of your love for me
it's deeper than i can imagine
and i don't have to ever be afraid
cuz nothing in the universe can take your love away!

and so, yes, i am obsessed with water. i love lakes. i love going to beaches... and i can not believe that i was just there yesterday... in northern michigan... i'm still so excited that we were there... and brenda can tell you, i was super excited when we were there... the excitement remains. i want to go back!! i wish i could jog on the edge of that beautiful lake. someday... i shall go again to another lake. anyways... i'll stop dreaming and share a suh-wheat passage i just found in psalms about water. cuz i love water.
oh... and that reminds me... i just ran out of water... i need to go to the store and buy some. crazy, aye, that one buys water these days. :) but i like my jugs... OF WATER thank you very much. :)

Some became fools through their rebellious ways...
Others went out on the sea in ships; they were merchants on the mighty waters.
They saw the works of the Lord, his wonderful deeds in the deep.
For he spoke and stirred up a tempest that lifted high the waves.
They mounted up to the heavens and went down to the depths;
in their peril their courage melted away.
They reeled and staggered like drunken men; they were at their wits' end.
Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and he brought them out of their distress.
He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed.
They were glad when it grew calm, and he guided them to their desired haven.
Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men...
Whoever is wise, let him heed these things and consider the great love of the Lord.
-Taken from Psalm 107 (You should read the whole chapter!)

THIS DO IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME

THIS DO IN REMEMBERANCE OF ME

the words stared at me this afternoon as i sat, searching for quiet, searching for peace, searching for Jesus.

THIS DO IN REMEMBERANCE OF ME.

i have been so busy, continuously running, feeling exhausted, letting others down, letting myself down, letting my Jesus down.

THIS DO IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME.

what do people do in remembrance of their loved ones? they put flowers on their grave? more oft than not, though, they may not remember, but rather seek to forget in effort to push the hurt away. that's not why we ever take communion in the church... we do it so that we can forget you? absolutley not!!!

For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes. -1 Corinthians 11:26

what would i do to remember someone? ooh-like a husband/daddy on work buisness traveling far away. a boyfriend or girlfriend out of town. a best friend moved a state away. a sister anna a brother caleb a mom a dad far from where i am now... what do i do to remember them? well, i call them. i think about them all the time. i plaster their pictures everywhere that i might not forget their face. i write them love notes. i plan special surprises when i just show up and shower them with my love.

it's like that with Jesus, isn't it? he's not dead-he's alive! it's like he just can't be in physical form with me right now-but he's still there. he still can talk to me and listen to me and love me. so how do i live my life in remembrance of him? how do i get excited and anticipate his return? what are the ways that i "plaster his picture everywhere" or "write him love notes" or "just show up as a surprise to shower him with my love"? what can i do to live in remembrance of him?

THIS DO IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME.

because of grace...

we sang this song at revival during worship and then over and over at the end and i just love the words... i am unworthy, i am SO weak, and it's only by his grace and his mercy that i'm still standing... and i'm standing unashamed!!! oh, how i love my Jesus!!!
i'm gonna try and figure out who sings it and get the rest of the words up here because they were just beautiful.

I know I'm weak
I know I'm unworthy
To call upon Your name
But because of grace
Because of Your mercy
I stand here unashamed

Ella Love

Two weeks ago my cousin Candace had a beautiful baby girl, Ella Love. These are a few of my favorite pictures of little Ella that I have seen so far...Isn't she beautiful?
Daddy Brandon and little Ella Love. So precious!
He He, Mommy Candace and Baby Ella Love... it looks like she's trying to smile! :)
She looks like she's gonna be a thinker.
Beautiful little Ella Love Bunny!!!

Before you had a name
Or opened up your eyes
Or anyone could recognize your face
You were being formed
So delicate inside
Secluded in God's safe and hidden place
With your little tiny hands
And little tiny feet
And little eyes that shimmer like a pearl
He breathed in you a song
And to make it all complete
He brought this masterpiece into the world

You are a masterpiece
A new creation He has formed
And you're as soft and fresh
As a snowy winter morn
And I'm so glad that God has given you to us
Little lamb of God
You are a masterpiece!

boys, busy-ness, needing rest, revival and Jesus!

i have noticed this about me. as i like boys my heart gets super excited and then feels let down, or just like quivers... standing perfectly still, trying not to hope, but longing for a reason to hope at the same time. it's really strange. it's like constantly playing the "he loves me, he loves me not" game. and it's emotionally exhausting. do i think that at times that if there was a significant other in my life that all of a sudden my heart would stop flying and then nose diving? because that's not true. i think that even one day if i am married my heart will rise and fall. You, Jesus are the only one whose love doesn't send me soaring only to find myself plummeting into the depths. i don't play that game with you. your love is satisfying and constant and i am always soaring because your love never changes. and i ask myself... why can't that be enough for me? why do i continuously find myself liking certain persons even after promising to give them up? is this inconsistent in my walk with you? is it possible to love another and you at the same time? or is that a form of adultery in my heart? is marriage truly what you have created for us or are we serving two masters... you and our heart? if we cannot serve both God and money, how can we serve both a lover and a God?

that's what i was thinking all day today. what do you think?
i read these verses today... my life has been so crazy and i've been really struggling... to find rest, to find peace, to find time to breathe. relationships are really hard right now and i'm fighting to keep them healthy and be all that i can be to all the people in my life, and i am drained. school is difficult... classes are hard and homework is plentiful. revival starts tomorrow. i am ready to be revived. i am ready to go through four days of just sitting and reflecting on my relationship with Jesus and am ready to hear from him. today i found these verses and they spoke to my heart... and i think the end is kinda funny. sorry boys, sorry Mom, if this offends you... but it's in the bible!! :) may His peace rest on you today... and may it rest on me. and may he answer the questions of our hearts and fill our hearts with desires that are inline with his will.

In repentence and rest is your salvation,
In quietness and trust is your strength,
but you would have none of it.
Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you;
He rises to show you compassion.
For the Lord is a God of justice.
Blessed are all who wait for Him!
O, you will weep no more.
How gracious He will be when you cry for help!
As soon as He hears, He will answer you!
Whether you turn to the right or to the left,
your ears will hear a voice behind you saying,
"This is the way, walk in it."
Then you will defile your idols overlaid with silver
and covered with gold;
You will throw them away like a menstrual cloth
and say to them, "Away with you!"

anna jane myree

what makes you give your last coookie away?
or help me clean my room all day?
why would you let me use your stereo?
or save me the middle of that oreo?
why do you always try to be there when i really really need you there, to care,
you're always willing to share

what makes a friend be a friend like you?
what takes a friendship and turns it into something to last your whole life through?
what makes a friend be a friend like you?

what makes you wanna give your heart away?
what makes you open up and say all of the feelings that you hold inside...
all of the secrets that you try to hide?
why do you always try to be there when i really really need you there, to care,
you're always willing to share...

love makes a friend be a friend like you.
love takes our friendship and turns it into something to last our whole lives through...
love makes a friend be a friend like you.
love makes a friends be a friend LIKE you.

i miss you baby.

"i've given her a great big hug when she was feeling sad
and then again i've said some things that have really made her mad
but i know she's always there...
and i know she'll always care...
she's my sister... i love my sister."

"you rolled out the moon and lit the sun"

What are our ears doing?

Today is a solemn day, a day of remembering. Every year since 2001 on this day I get a sad glimpse of how broken our country is. I love to listen to a song by Skillet on this day called “You are My Hope”. It says…

Times are hard
Times have changed
Don't you say
But I keep holding on to you
It's hard to keep the faith alive day to day
Leaning on the strength I've found in you
You're the hope of all the Earth

The only thing that can heal our brokenness and bring our country and people hope is Jesus. As I was thinking about this I thought about other countries that have experienced brokenness and I found myself in the book of Isaiah reading about the people of Israel. Isaiah, chosen by God, was called to speak hope into the people of Israel. This is what he says about himself in chapter 50…

The Sovereign Lord has given me an instructed tongue, to know the word that sustains the weary. He wakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being taught. (50:4)

I love that picture of God awakening Isaiah’s ear to listen to a word of hope he can administer to those around him. “Like one being taught” indicates that God doesn’t want Isaiah to just let it go in one ear and out the other, but to soak it in, analyze it, and be able to spit it out again. Like Isaiah, God has called every single one of us, in whatever form that may be, whether we become pastors or missionaries or rock stars or bank tellers or grocers or whatever we become. :) He has called us to administer his word of hope to the broken and hurting around us. My challenge to all of us today- what are our ears doing? Are we allowing our ears to be opened like one being taught that we might hear his word and administer his peace, love and hope to our broken world? Or are we just letting it go in one ear and out the other? Isaiah 51:15 is God’s word to Isaiah, and ultimately his word to you and me, his chosen, his called.

For I am the Lord your God, who churns up the sea so that its waves roar- the Lord Almighty is my name. I have put my words in your mouth and covered you with the shadow of my hand- I set the heavens in place and laid the foundations of the earth says to you, “You are my people.” (51:15)

i need help

will you pray for me? especially tomorrow. i want my attitude and heart to be in line with Jesus.
tell me what you think about this...

If a brand new sales clerk doesn't know how to use the register, then it is ok (more than ok) for her to ask to be taught how to use it. And if she never received the training because the manager was too busy, then in several weeks when she jams the register was it her fault for trying to figure it out on her own? No way!! Especially if she was thrown to the register and told to help the customers. It was the manager's job in the first place to teach her regardless of whether the girl knew to ask for help, right? Or is that too bold and obstinate to believe??

and i'm speaking in parable fashion... don't worry, i don't work at a store and my manager isn't not training me. :)

Sister 2 Sister Kick Off Party

Tonight was our Sister 2 Sister Kick Off Party. It was really good... well, to an extent. I felt very humbled because it didn't go at all how I planned it to, but God's so much bigger than my plans and I know that He truly worked in the midst of the chaotic madness of 400 people trying to figure out who their sister is and if they even have a sister!!
I want to share with all of you how the night went down... this is what I've been spending sooo much time on these past weeks, and I think that God really blessed and is blessing mine and Beth's efforts. So if you weren't there... see if you can join in on the excitement. And if you were, know that Beth and I are praying for you, we love you, and we hope that you and your sister will hit it off, love each other and build an AMAZING relationship this year as you draw close to each other and to Jesus.

Here we go....

Welcome Sisters!!As everybody walked in we tried to play this game... it worked to an extent, I think... :S They were great questions though, you have to hand it to us. :)

After the game we started finding our sisters... yeah, hopefully next year we will have a way better way to do this... but I think everybody found each other for the most part. Sorry sisters, if you were confused or frustrated during this time of the night!!Devo Time!!
So my Uncle Steve was taking Seth Micah into the garage to show him something at his workbench. Seth was following him, but when Uncle Steve walked around the garage and turned around Seth had held back and was frozen in place. His eyes were wide and Uncle Steve said, "Seth, c'mon, what's the matter?" "Unca Thteve!! A thpider!!" "Oh, Seth, don't worry, it won't eat much... c'mon buddy." "But Unca Thteve! Its a thpider!!" "Sethy, it won't get you, c'mon buddy." "Unca Thteve!" "Ok, I'll get it." So Uncle Steve walks back across the garage and smashes the spider with his shoe and motions for Seth to follow. "Ok, I got it Seth, let's go!" "But Unca Thteve! Its on your shoe!!" I love to hear that story of Seth. Sethy wouldn't let Uncle Steve take him into the garage the rest of the way until he cleaned up the spider with a napkin and threw it away in the trash.
I think I'm a lot like little Seth Micah. God's got something he wants me to do, something he wants to show me in the garage, and I've taken my focus off of the work bench and am looking at the spider that isn't even in my way and can't possibly hurt me. And I'm terrified, frozen, there in the garage. The amazing thing that I've found out about God is that He's a lot like Uncle Steve. He doesn't come back grab my hand and force me into the garage past the spider, no, if I need him to, he'll take time to come back, smash it, clean it up, take my hand and walk me through the garage.
Sister 2 Sister is a big commitment for all of us. We all have fears. Little sisters, you're afraid maybe of not getting a sister or having a bad sister, Big sisters you're afraid of not having enough time to be the best sister we can be or you're afraid of not being able to be the mentor we know that God is calling us to be, Sponsors you're afraid of what your role looks like and aren't sure what we're asking of you. And outside of Sister 2 Sister we all have fears that just grab us and freeze us in our shoes. My fear is of this leadership role... that I will let you girls down. That I will fail in my life and therefore set a not so great example of what a Christ like sister looks like. Take some time right now and talk amongst yourself about your fears....

*Pretend/Imagine that God wants your fear, your spider, to remain in your life because it isn't going to get you like you suppose. How do you think He can use your fear to help you become a better person/sister?
*Do you think that you would be a better sister/person if the fear was eliminated?
*What are you afraid of?
*What freezes you and you wish God would just smash it?

As I was freaking out several weeks ago about this night, this party, the words I was going to share with you, I was gripped with fear and I cried as I opened my Bible to Isaiah 41 and heard God speaking to my heart. This passage is directed towards the chosen people of Israel, yet I am embracing these words as my own and your own because each of us have been called into this place where God can use us and these are his comforting words for us today.

I took you from the ends of the earth, from its farthest corners I called you. I said, "You are my servant; I have chosen you and have not rejected you. So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand... For I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you. Do not be afraid, for I myself will help you," declares the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One.
-Isaiah 41:9-10,13-14

I sought the Lord and He answered me. He delivers me from all my fears.
-Psalm 34:4

Take tiem and pray over each other, specifically that you will step out of fear and into His arms. Pray for each other that you will allow God to comfort your fears. Thank Him for His promise of strength, that He is and will continue to uphold you, and thank Him that He HAS called you into this place where you can grow through your fears.

Check out our SUH-WHEAT S2S T-Shirts!! And don't forget... there's cookies out there! Lots of nummy ones... chocolate chip, peanut butter, oatmeal raisin, m&m and sugar!!
Peace Out, Girlies!!
May the God of peace equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
-Hebrews 13:20-21
